Sydney June Meetup - Socialized!
Keeping with our schedule of the 3rd thursday of each month, we'll be having our regular meetup on this Thursday, June 18th. This meetup will have a change of venue and will be an experiment for more social events for the community. (Next month is July 16th)
The last monthly meetup went really well as usual. We experimented with a barcamp style session which got good feedback. The turn out was a bit smaller than usual (probably do to a late announcement on my part) but we had another really great support session. Thanks again to the people who stepped up barcamp style.
This month we'll be at the Royal Exhibition Hotel and we'll be aiming for a social pub experience. I'm still working to see if we can get a projector setup. If so, look for us upstairs otherwise we'll position ourselves in the back area where we can pool some tables together. Look for laptops, drupal schwag, and lots of talking! We'll also be running the support sessions again, since that seems to be a popular segment so bring your laptop!

When: Thursday, June 18th

Venue Details
This is the same pub that we used to meet at over a year ago. I don't remember the parking situation, but its so close to central station you could likely use the same parking from the ABC centre and walk over if really necessary.
Agenda:
- Greetings and Welcome new people + Announcements
- Community News by: Ryan Cross
A regular addition to the agenda, this will cover monthly news in the community and around Drupal. We can also have another presentation if the projector situation works out well - Session: Live Support
We will be delivering a live support session for all levels of Drupal experience. Remember when you first got started? - Everyone has been there and can help someone else climb the Drupal learning curve, wherever your current experience provides. Please come prepared with questions or answers, laptops and your Drupal experience! Unfortunately, we can't guarantee internet access. - No need to move! - stay till late at the pub with Drinks/food
Remember to sign up, this will also help us plan numbers/audience.
Next Month (July 16th):
- Image Cache and handling by James Gollan
- Best practices for upgrading by Ryan Cross
Future Presentations:
- See http://groups.drupal.org/node/15140
- What can you present on?
Post below if you can talk about something (anything is ok, everyone has something to share) or if you're are interested in other topics for discussion.

once again thanks Ryan
Sounds great; I will been keen to chat to people about some things that i have been doing with theming (maintenance page, search results, webform, custom content types etc) or the conclusion to my webform saga (which ended elegantly) and as always WYSIWYG/IMCE/File uploads. I do have notes that i want to post up about what i talked about last week and the conclusions/outcome after the discussion had with the group.
Managed to get some nice elegant template code that i believe is easy even for the novice to get customized looking mail forms on there site, have a doco and example template but will not get to post them until next week as i am a bit busy this week,
also i agree with the support session styles i thought that was great i know that i walked away feeling like my drupal knowledge had increased, plus its always good to just have a chat with people who face/ are facing the same issues as you (i.e CMF development)
also just to say there are heaps of topics that people can talk about if people have specific interests/needs post em and i am sure that someone from the community will have some info or could talk about the subject/topic, if i knew people where keen to hear about certain things then i would/could organize slides/demos (if i am knowledgeable in the topic ; p) etc
also just a comment... there seems to be a lot of Drupal development work out there... i have someone poaching me and im busy is there anyone keen for some module dev work 2years drupal module dev required... if so message me

missed it damm : (
Missed last night due to the winter flu ; ( happy to know there is no swine involved... also check out http://www.securesentinel.co.nz/ssnz/ this is a site that i have been working on with Suncorp, it is there first Drupal 6 site it was part of a small pilot test that has been run and so far going well... we have another site that will be launched next week once completed i will post. The site uses a lot of JQuery and minnimal Drupal modules. The site has been built with 100% contributed modules no custom code ; ) Go Drupal Community why reinvent the wheel (unless you want to add rims then just build a rims module :P ) the main work spent here has been on the theme site, the theme is build using s Zen Subtheme with various custom functions for menus etc. Also please see the search button theming, i have themed and styled in the page.tpl rather then using the custom search template (for search block) this has been done the same way that i have used before on sites which is to create a search form with independent styling and then parsing the drupal variables through to the search results output. This is a nice and easy way i find to style search and also allows for an easy implementation of front/end HTML/CSS/Photoshop design's from a web designer.
